GE IP‑QUADRATURE is a high‑performance IndustrialPack form‑factor quadrature decoder and counter module, originally manufactured by GE Intelligent Platforms (Abaco Systems).
This card provides four independent hardware quadrature decoder channels for incremental encoder signals (A/B/Z index pulse). Each channel can be configured as quadrature decoder or general‑purpose high‑speed counter. It converts encoder pulse signals into real‑time position, speed and rotation direction data for PLC, PAC and turbine control systems. It supports both differential RS‑422 and single‑ended TTL/CMOS encoder inputs, with 2.5 kV galvanic isolation between field side and backplane circuit to suppress EMI noise in heavy‑industrial environments.
Hardware specifications: 4 fully independent quadrature input channels; 24‑bit counter resolution per channel. Quadrature frequency up to 1.2 MHz; general‑purpose counting frequency up to 10 MHz. Programmable prescaler modes: X1, X2, X4 quadrature multiplication. Signal type: differential RS‑422 or single‑ended TTL/CMOS encoder signals with Z index pulse support. Galvanic isolation: 2500 VAC isolation between field wiring and system backplane. Interrupt support: per‑channel capture, match event, direction change, overflow / underflow interrupt. Backplane interface: IndustrialPack / VME64, compatible with GE PACSystems RX7i, Series 90‑70 and Mark VIe SPEEDTRONIC turbine control systems. Power supply: 5 VDC supplied via backplane; power consumption below 2 W. Operating temperature range: ‑40°C ~ +85°C; humidity 5%‑95% non‑condensing.
