Two Operating Modes
1. RX7i Hot‑Standby Redundancy Mode (Primary Application)
Dedicated fibre‑optic synchronisation link for RX7i CPU hot‑standby redundancy.
One IC698RMX016‑ED per rack; two modules total for one redundant CPU pair.
Mirrors memory and variables for bumpless switch‑over upon master CPU failure.
Redundancy network must be configured as 2‑node ring, no extra reflective‑memory nodes allowed on this link.
CPU firmware requirement: RX7i CPU firmware ≥ V2.00
Compatible CPUs: IC698CPE010, IC698CPE020‑CC, IC698CPE030, IC698CPE040
Optional dual‑link redundancy: four RMX modules (two per rack) for higher fault tolerance.
2. General‑Purpose Reflective‑Memory Network
Acts as standard reflective‑memory node, compatible with VMIC‑5565 family devices.
Hardware‑assisted memory broadcast, low CPU overhead.
Note: Once configured for CPU hot‑standby, the RMX module cannot operate as general‑purpose reflective‑memory node.
Installation & Practical Notes
Recommended slot: Slot 3 or Slot 4 of RX7i main rack for optimal VME interrupt priority; other slots are physically acceptable but not preferred.
Not hot‑swappable: Power‑off rack before inserting / removing module.
Front‑panel LEDs: link status, network activity, parity fault indication.
Module remains inactive until hardware configuration is downloaded via Machine Edition.
Maximum four Memory‑Xchange modules (RMX016‑ED / CMX016) per RX7i main rack.
