Receive one Genius bus input and output two Genius output branches, Port-A and Port-B, which are electrically isolated from each other. Electrical isolation between ports can isolate ground loops in different on-site areas, reducing communication jitter and packet loss caused by ground potential differences. The baud rate follows the upstream master station, and the module cannot independently set the rate locally. It supports 153.6 kbit/s, 76.8 kbit/s, and 38.4 kbit/s. Each output port can connect up to 31 Genius slave stations, and the total number of system nodes and the upper limit of I/O capacity are still determined by the upstream master controller. This expansion module will not enhance the overall network data capability.
Both Port A and Port B support Genius dual cable redundant wiring, and the redundant link maintains communication when a single cable is damaged. It is recommended to use Belden 9182 shielded twisted pair for fieldbus, and terminal matching resistors must be installed at both ends of each network segment; The maximum cable length of the bus varies with the baud rate, ranging from approximately 2000 feet at high speeds of 153.6 kbit/s to 7500 feet at low speeds of 38.4 kbit/s.
Backboard 5VDC power supply, power consumption 7.5W. Panel LED indicator lights include operation, self-test, input bus Port‑A、Port‑B、 Fault alarm. It can detect bus short circuits, cable breaks, and branch link faults, report fault events to the PLC CPU, and generate alarm records with timestamps. The module has no local I/O terminals, and all on-site signals are connected to external Genius remote I/O stations. Multiple IC697BEM731Z can be installed in the same rack to build a multi-level tree bus topology. All configurations are completed using Logicmaster/Proficy software, without jumpers or dip switches.
