IC697CHS770 is a GE Fanuc Series 90-70, * * 17 slot rear mounted redundant rack * *, specifically designed for dual CPU hot standby redundant systems. The rack itself does not contain electronic control cards and consists of a metal shell and a dual partition isolated VME backplane.
The total number of slots for the whole machine is 17, including 2 power slots, 12 general module slots, and 3 special function slots. The backplane adopts a dual partition isolation architecture, which is divided into two independent VME bus partitions, A and B. Each partition has one power slot and six module slots, achieving physical isolation between the main and backup hardware sets. Support simultaneous insertion of dual power supplies to achieve power redundancy; All modules in the rack support hot swapping, and the CPU, communication, and I/O modules can be directly replaced during operation without interrupting system operation.
The installation form is rear Rear Mount, suitable for standard 19 inch industrial cabinets, with a rack depth of 254mm. Modules are inserted from the back of the cabinet, leaving only wiring space on the front of the cabinet. The backplane complies with the VME bus specification, with a slot spacing of 0.8 inches, and is compatible with all IC697 series CPU, I/O, communication, and coprocessor modules, as well as compliant third-party VME boards. The maximum output current of the backplane 5VDC is 20 amperes, which can be used with IC697PWR series AC or DC power modules. The rack can be equipped with optional fan components to enhance heat dissipation for high-power modules.
There is a rack ID coding jumper located behind the power slot on the rack backplane, which is used to set rack numbers 0-7 for multi rack systems. Support connecting other expansion racks through expansion cables to achieve the expansion of the entire system’s I/O scale. When used for redundant configuration, it is paired with dual CPUs and redundant communication modules to achieve undisturbed switching between primary and backup CPUs, suitable for critical process scenarios such as chemical and power industries that do not allow downtime.
