GE IC670CHS001|I/O Wiring Base|

Core functionality
Mechanical carrier+external wiring interface
Barrier style terminals isolate adjacent circuits to prevent short circuits; The external on-site cable is connected to the base terminal, and the I/O module is directly plugged into the base. Replacing the I/O module does not require dismantling the on-site wiring, making maintenance convenient.
Backplane Genius bus communication
The base is equipped with a Genius bus backplane, which interfaces with BIU bus interface modules to achieve remote distributed I/O; Multiple CHS001 bases can be cascaded together to expand the number of remote site I/O points.
Module hot plug support
Equipped with BIU bus units with firmware ≥ V2.1, replace I/O modules without shutting down the system to reduce maintenance downtime; The base itself does not support hot swapping, only the I/O modules on top can be plugged in and out.
Power Distribution
The A/B terminals of the base are connected to 24VDC to provide working power for the two I/O modules plugged into the base.
Important distinction: IC670CHS001 is only a base and does not have input/output functions. It must be paired with IC670 series I/O modules (such as IC670MDL240, IC670ALG230 and other digital and analog modules) to have signal acquisition and output capabilities.
Supporting system architecture
PLC host → Genius bus → BIU bus interface module → IC670CHS001 base (2 I/O modules) → on-site sensors and actuators.

Typical application case (Genius distributed remote I/O)
Case 1: Remote I/O Station for Water Treatment Pump Station
Configuration: IC670CHS001 base+digital input/output module, Genius bus connected to PLC
Working condition: The pump station is far away from the central control room, with scattered pump valve and liquid level switch signals
Function: Collect signals locally on site, reduce long-distance multi-core cables, and transmit signals back to the central control PLC through the Genius bus.
Case 2: On site substation of metallurgical production line
Configuration: Multiple CHS001 base cascades, DI/DO+AI/AO hybrid modules
Working conditions: on-site limit of rolling line, electromagnetic valve, pressure transmitter signal acquisition
Function: Distributed I/O, placing equipment nearby in control cabinets to reduce wiring costs; When there is a malfunction, replace the I/O module separately without dismantling the on-site cables.
Case 3: Auxiliary control system of power plant
Working condition: Local signal acquisition of fans and pump units
Function: Genius remote I/O, base barrier terminal resistant to on-site interference, convenient for later spare parts replacement.
