Overview

The VMIVME-7455 is a passive 6U single-slot VMEbus carrier board originally manufactured by VMIC, later part of GE Fanuc and now Abaco Systems legacy product line. It is a storage peripheral board designed to add CD-ROM media capability to VMIC PC/AT family VME single-board computers.

This passive board integrates a 24X multisession IDE CD-ROM drive, supporting CD-I, Video CD, Enhanced CD and CD PLUS formats. No onboard controller chips; IDE signals are routed through the VME P2 backplane connector to the host VME SBC that carries the IDE controller. It can work together with the VMIVME-7452 floppy/HDD storage carrier in the same VME chassis to build complete legacy VME embedded storage subsystems for system boot, firmware loading, software installation and offline data archive.

The VMIVME-7455 is a discontinued legacy VME module. New original stock is no longer produced. We supply fully tested refurbished / surplus units for maintenance replacement of old industrial racks.

Q: Is VMIVME-7455 a CPU board? A: No. VMIVME-7455 is a passive CD-ROM carrier board. It cannot run independently and must connect to a compatible VMIC VME single-board computer with IDE controller via VME P2 connector.

Q: Can VMIVME-7455 work with VMIVME-7452 together? A: Yes. Both are passive storage carriers and can be mounted in the same VME chassis, sharing one compatible VMIC VME SBC as host.

Q: Is VMIVME-7455 still in production? A: No. This is an end-of-life legacy VME module originally released by VMIC. We supply tested surplus and refurbished units for equipment maintenance.
