Important distinction

TU847 supports redundant CI840/CI840A communication interfaces, but the I/O itself is non-redundant (single I/O). ABB’s product documentation describes it as “Redundant CI840/CI840A, Single I/O.”

PROFIBUS DP → CI840 + CI840 → TU847 → S800 I/O
The two CI840 interfaces provide communication redundancy, while the downstream I/O configuration remains single/non-redundant.
