Emerson P188.R2 is a safety relay module designed for functional safety applications, widely paired with Emerson Ovation DCS systems for power plant, boiler, turbine and safety instrumented system (SIS) interlock control. This safety relay complies with IEC 61508 SIL3 and ISO 13849 PL e, built for critical safety loops that require reliable emergency stop, guard door monitoring and safety interlock logic.

The P188.R2 runs on 24 VDC nominal power supply with ±15% tolerance. It has 2 independent safety input channels supporting normally closed and normally open contact combinations, and 2 sets of forced-guided safety relay outputs rated at 6 A @ 250 VAC. The typical response time is ≤20 ms, delivering fast safety trip action once a fault or unsafe condition is detected. Forced contact design ensures reliable fault detection and prevents dangerous contact welding, which is mandatory for high-risk safety circuits.
