The Hydran 201Ti is a compact, easy-to-install continuous DGA monitor that provides the essential information defined in IEEE® Standard C57.104. It serves as a reliable first line of defense for transformer fleets by delivering early warning of abnormal conditions, helping to reduce the risk of unexpected failures and unplanned outages.
The 201Ti uses a composite gas sensor based on proven fuel-cell technology, generating the well-known Hydran Gas Value (classified as fixed instrumentation – Method 3 in the standard). The sensor responds 100% to hydrogen (H₂)—the primary indicator of general transformer faults—and is also sensitive to carbon monoxide (CO) from overheated paper insulation, acetylene (C₂H₂) from arcing, and ethylene (C₂H₄) from overheated oil. This coverage addresses the principal root causes of transformer failures.
The monitoring unit mounts directly on a single transformer valve and employs Dynamic Oil Sampling, eliminating the need for pumps or additional piping. With its simple design and intuitive data presentation, the Hydran 201Ti has remained a preferred solution for many years and is supported by one of the largest installed bases of any transformer DGA monitor.
Configurable Alarms
Alarms are generated when abnormal fault gas levels are detected.
Two configurable alarm thresholds are available: Alert and Alarm, indicating increasing severity.
Alarms can be set based on absolute gas concentration (ppm) or rate of change (ROC) over hourly or daily intervals.
An automatic self-test is performed every 15 days. If a fault is detected—such as power loss, closed oil valve, sensor degradation, or battery replacement requirement—a service alarm is triggered.
Communication

Analog output (4–20 mA) proportional to dissolved gas ppm value.
Digital communication via isolated RS-485, supporting Modbus or Hydran communication protocols.
