The CPU board integrates the microprocessor, RAM memory, real-time clock, LED status indicators, INIT push button, and a CompactFlash interface.
The PM865 controller baseplate includes two RJ45 Ethernet ports (CN1, CN2) for Control Network communication, along with two RJ45 serial ports (COM3, COM4). COM3 is an RS-232C port with modem-control signals, while COM4 is an isolated port dedicated for configuration-tool connection.

The controller supports full CPU redundancy to ensure high system availability, covering the CPU, CEX-Bus, communication interfaces, and S800 I/O modules.

High-integrity functionality is enabled through the addition of an SM81x module combined with SIL-certified software. This allows non-critical control applications to be upgraded to SIL-certified safety schemes simply by inserting the appropriate SM81x module and selecting the required certified software.

The AC 800M High-Integrity controller provides an IEC 61508 and TÜV-certified environment, enabling both safety-related and business-critical process control to coexist in a single controller without compromising safety integrity.
