The CPU board integrates the key processing and support functions required for reliable controller operation. It includes the microprocessor, RAM memory, a real-time clock, LED status indicators, an INIT push button, and a CompactFlash interface for storage and system data handling.
The TP830 baseplate of the PM862 controller provides multiple communication interfaces:
Two RJ45 Ethernet ports (CN1, CN2) for connection to the Control Network
Two RJ45 serial ports (COM3, COM4)
COM3: RS-232C port with modem control signals
COM4: Isolated port designed for connection to engineering/configuration tools
To ensure high system availability, the controller supports comprehensive CPU redundancy, including redundancy for the CPU, CEX-Bus, communication interfaces, and S800 I/O. This enables continuous operation even in the event of hardware failures.
Installation and removal are streamlined using a simple DIN-rail slide-and-lock mechanism, allowing quick and secure mounting. Each TP830 baseplate is manufactured with a unique Ethernet hardware address, providing definitive hardware identity for every CPU. This address is printed on the Ethernet address label attached to the baseplate.
