The CPU board integrates the microprocessor, RAM memory, a real-time clock, status LEDs, an INIT push button, and a CompactFlash interface.

The TP830 baseplate provides the communication interfaces for the PM858 controller, including two RJ45 Ethernet ports (CN1, CN2) for Control Network connectivity and two RJ45 serial ports (COM3 and COM4).

COM3 is an RS-232C port with modem control signals.

COM4 is an isolated serial port used for configuration tools.

The controller supports full CPU redundancy, including redundancy for the CPU, CEX-Bus, communication interfaces, and S800 I/O, providing high system availability.

Installation is simplified through ABB’s slide-and-lock DIN-rail mechanism, enabling fast attachment and removal. Each baseplate includes a unique hardware Ethernet address, located on the label attached to the TP830, ensuring clear hardware identification.
