Control Cabling Guidelines for SAMI GS

Cable Types

• Standard control cables:

  • Use screened, multi-core cables sized 0.5 – 1.0 mm² when connecting to terminals on the Control Interface Card.

• Optional terminal block (X2):

  • Cables up to 4 mm² may be used if the optional Terminal Block X2 is installed.

Earthing

• Cable screens should be earthed at the TE terminal of the Control Unit.

Routing and Interference Suppression

• When planning cabling between the SAMI GS and an automation device (e.g., PLC), consider:

  • Interference suppression

  • Signal levels

  • Galvanic isolation

• Control cables must be routed separately from mains and motor cables.

  • Do not run them in parallel.

  • If parallel routing is unavoidable:

    • Maintain minimum separation of 300 mm for runs < 10 m.

    • Add 300 mm separation for every additional 10 m of parallel run.

• Do not place contactors or relays inside the SAMI GS.

• Only SAMI GS control cables are allowed inside the unit.

Galvanic Isolation

• Control connections of the SAMI GS are galvanically isolated from mains potential.

• They have a 10 MΩ resistance to the inverter frame (PE).

• Normally, there is no need to connect X50/2, 4, 6, and 8 (logic GND) to TE or PE.

  • However, if EMC problems occur, making this connection may help.

Signal-Specific Requirements

• Analog I/O signals:

  • Use a separate twisted pair for each individual signal.

• Digital inputs (DI):

  • Use screened cables for DI1 to DI6.

  • Do not use an external +24 V supply for digital inputs.
